A well-kept mirror needs two care routines: one for the reflective surface and one for its frame. Treating both with the same spray can leave moisture or cleaner where it does not belong. Start with the instructions for the selected glass, frame material and finish.
Prepare a clean working surface
Use a clean, soft, non-abrasive cloth that will not shed grit onto the glass. Check the cloth before each use; particles trapped in it can scratch a surface. Work where you can reach comfortably without leaning on the frame or pulling against the mounting points.
Clean the glass with control
Use only a cleaner or cleaning method approved for the mirror. Apply a small amount to the cloth rather than spraying the assembled mirror directly. Wipe gently and finish with a clean, dry cloth. Keep liquid from collecting along the edges, behind the glass or on the frame.
Avoid abrasive pads, metal scrapers and improvised chemical mixtures. A cleaner labelled for general glass is not automatically suitable for every mirror coating. If marks remain, check compatibility before increasing the concentration or trying a different product.
Give the frame its own care routine
For natural rattan or woven frames, begin with gentle dry dusting using a soft cloth or soft brush where appropriate for the finish. Do not soak the weave. Do not add oil, wax, polish or a stain treatment without confirming that it suits the exact finish.
Jute, seagrass, painted details, bindings and other materials can need different treatment. Keep glass cleaner off these parts, and check the product instructions before using a damp cloth on them. Remove accidental moisture promptly with a dry cloth.
Notice changes early
During routine care, look for loose frame details, damaged edges, persistent dampness or a change in how the mirror sits. If the glass is cracked or the mounting appears unstable, keep the area clear and arrange an assessment before further handling or cleaning.
Keep the right information with the mirror
For a collection or project handover, record the product code, frame material and finish, approved glass and frame care, and the installation instructions. A photo and product reference will also help Kim Phat understand an aftercare enquiry. Cleaning guidance does not replace the mounting instructions for that design.
